Man Utd midfielder Hannibal Mejbri posts emotional message to Birmingham and drops hint over his future

He's spent the season on loan at Birmingham.

Manchester United youngster Hannibal Mejbri has refused to rule out the possibility of returning to Birmingham City next season.

Hannibal, 20, has spent the season on loan at the Championship club, making his final appearance for the Blues on Monday against already-promoted Sheffield United.

He came off the bench to replace Juninho Bacuna in the second half of Birmingham's 2-1 final-day defeat.

In total, Hannibal has made 41 appearances for the club this season, scoring one goal and providing six assists to help them narrowly avoid relegation with a 17th place finish.

He will now enjoy a well-earned break before returning to Manchester United and will hope to work his way into Erik ten Hag's first-team plans over the summer.

"First, the Championship is very hard, so I'm going to have a good holiday," Hannibal told BirminghamLive.

"After that I will think about next season and get ready for my pre-season with Man United."

Asked if he could return to Birmingham, Hannibal added: "We will see at the end of the pre-season. Why not? You never know."

Hannibal thanks Birmingham in emotional statement

Hannibal also posted an emotional message to Birmingham on his Instagram account, thanking the club and its fans for their support.

"A huge thanks to the amazing staff for their support and guidance, and to the passionate fans for making my time at St Andrew's unforgettable," he wrote.

"I've made some fantastic memories and friends here in Birmingham, and I am proud to have worn the Blues jersey.

"As I move on to the next chapter of my career, I'll always cherish my time here and the relationships I've built.

"I wish the club, my team-mates, and all the fans the very best for the future.

"Let's keep pushing forward and making Birmingham FC proud!"
