"Don't..." - Hargreaves tells Sabitzer what he must avoid if he is to earn permanent Man Utd deal

Hargreaves gives Sabitzer advice at Man Utd.

Former Manchester United midfielder Owen Hargreaves has told loanee Marcel Sabitzer what he must avoid doing if he's to earn a permanent move to Old Trafford this summer.

Sabitzer joined the Red Devils in January from Bayern Munich on loan until the end of the season but could still secure a permanent move in the summer if he impresses.

Erik ten Hag's side were forced to make a last minute addition to the midfield on deadline day following the injury to Christian Eriksen.

This has given Sabitzer a chance to prove his worth and former United midfielder Hargreaves has told him one thing he needs to do in order to succeed.

What did he say?

Hargreaves knows what it takes to hold down a place in the middle of the park for the Red Devils having been a key player in their 2008 Champions League winning campaign.

Speaking to MUTV he said: "He [Sabitzer] is a good player. I mean, obviously with the situation with Christian Eriksen, it changed everything. You needed to get another body in.

"He's another guy who can play multiple positions. He's smart. He's played in the Champions League and, depending on the personnel who play with him, he can play deeper or further forward."

When asked if there was one bit of advice he would give Sabitzer, he continued: "Just be yourself, that's what has got him here. Don't be too nice.

"A lot of guys come to new teams and try to fit in and can be very accommodating. Sometimes, you've got to force the issue and be aggressive and don't be too nice out there."

Whilst there's not an option inserted into the loan deal to make Sabitzer a permanent United player, according to recent reports Bayern would be willing to accept €20 million for his signature.

The Austrian has already started three league games for United and if he consistently performs then it would be a no-brainer at the price for Ten Hag to bring him in permanently.

He made 15 league appearances for the Bundesliga champions prior to joining the Red Devils on loan so has a huge amount of experience that would be invaluable to the squad.
