Manchester United won't be spending big at the end of the transfer window, with budget revealed

Erik ten Hag won't be adding anyone to his Manchester United side on a permanent basis this month, with the budget for the club revealed.

In the summer, Ten Hag knew he needed to add some players to United's squad, after they'd had their worst points performance in Premier League history.

The Dutchman brought in Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, Casemiro and Antony, all who have had differing levels of success.

Casemiro has been the most eye catching of the lot, and was certainly a huge miss for the side as they faced Arsenal in last week's huge game.

Whilst it's been a busy January for some clubs, especially Chelsea, and others are still looking to do some big deals, like Arsenal's pursuit of Moises Caicedo, it's been a much quieter winter window at Old Trafford.

So far the club have only signed temporary deals until the end of the season for goalkeeper Jack Butland, from Crystal Palace, and forward Wout Weghorst, from Burnley.

Those two were replacements for Martin Dubravka, who returned to Newcastle United, after his loan, and Cristiano Ronaldo, whose contract was terminated in November.

However, they won't be making any permanent deals in the final few days of the window, with the Daily Mail claiming they only have availability for a 'small fee' for another loan move.

United are reportedly still interested in adding another forward to their squad for the end of the season, which would likely allow Anthony Elanga and/or Facundo Pelistri to go out on loan.

They were strongly linked with Cody Gakpo last month, before the PSV forward moved to Liverpool instead, whilst they were one of a number of clubs offered Joao Felix.

The Atletico Madrid forward's loan fee was enough to put them off, along with Arsenal, and he eventually joined big spending Chelsea until the end of the season.

Pundits are lining up to suggest that the 13 times Premier League champions need to sign Harry Kane in the summer, in order to earn their 14th title, and first since Sir Alex Ferguson left in 2013.

In their immediate future is the fact they are the only team left in England who could complete a quadruple this season, as they remain just about in the title race, and are still in the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Europa League.

Fans are worried about their upcoming fixture list, with barely any time to rest for the players, and a squad that still has many questions outside of the strength of the first team.
