Marc Cucurella booed off by Chelsea fans during West Ham draw as struggles continue

Marc Cucurella was booed by off by some fans when he was substituted during Chelsea's 1-1 draw with West Ham on Saturday

Marc Cucurella was booed by sections of Chelsea's travelling support on Saturday, perfectly summing up his tough start to life at the club.

It's fair to say that things are not going well for Chelsea at the moment. On Saturday they drew 1-1 with West Ham at London Stadium, their third successive draw and their seventh away league fixture without a win.

The result leaves Graham Potter's side ninth in the Premier League table with 31 points from 22 games, nine points off the top four.

Potter is under mounting pressure despite only becoming manager in September. Chelsea have won just six of the 16 league matches Potter has been in charge for, and heavy investment in the January transfer window is yet to bring an upturn in form.

It may be a bit harsh to judge Potter after just 16 games, especially as the January window was his first opportunity to make the squad his own. New signings Joao Felix and Enzo Fernandez impressed on Saturday, the former giving the visitors the lead when he converted the latter's inch-perfect cross.

However, while by no means bad, Spanish left-back Cucurella again failed to look entirely at home in the Chelsea XI.

The 24-year-old was one of the best players in the league last season, and seemed odds-on to join Manchester City in the summer.

City and former club Brighton could not agree a deal though, and so Cucurella ended up joining Chelsea in a deal worth up to £63 million.

After a poor start to the season under Thomas Tuchel, many thought a reunion with his former Brighton coach would see Cucurella get back to his best. That doesn't appear to have happened yet, and some Chelsea fans are starting to lose patience.

A video has emerged on Twitter showing some of the travelling Chelsea fans booing Cucurella as he was substituted during the second half of Saturday's game. There were then audible cheers when fellow left-back Ben Chilwell came on in his place.
