Bolton become second club to 'demand compensation' from Barcelona after Marcos Alonso’s arrival at Camp Nou

Both Union Adarve and Bolton, who Marcos Alonso played for, claim Barcelona should compensate them over their deal for the ex-Chelsea star.

Barcelona could be forced to pay out further compensation after a second club came forward over their transfer of former Chelsea star Marcos Alonso, according to reports in Spain.

Alonso arrived at the Camp Nou last September after his contract with Chelsea was terminated, with the Spanish defender under contract with Barcelona until 2024.

The 32-year-old former Chelsea star reportedly took a hefty pay cut to sign for Barcelona amid the La Liga club’s crippling financial struggles.

However, Spanish fourth division side Union Adarve came forward last month and demanded a €103,000 fee over Alonso’s move from Chelsea to Barcelona.

According to reports, Union Adarve claimed they had ‘evidence of meetings’ between Chelsea to Barcelona over their negotiations for Alonso.

And it is claimed that the aforementioned negotiations played their part in engineering Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s move to Chelsea in 2022 for £10m and Alonso.

Alonso, who has a €50m release clause included in his contract, played for Union Adarve at youth level and his former side believe they have a strong case against Barcelona.

Now, Mundo Deportivo reports that Alonso’s former club Bolton have now come forward and are demanding compensation over his ‘training rights.’

Alonso played for Bolton from 2010 to 2013 before he completed his move to Serie A side Fiorentina, but the League One club believe they are ‘entitled to compensation’ from Barcelona.

The Spanish newspaper added that it is unclear if Bolton’s case is connected to the one made by Union Adarve.

Barcelona have been reported to FIFA for fraud, with the football organisation’s Dispute Resolution Chamber receiving a complaint from Union Adarve over the Alonso move.

SPORTbible has reached out to Bolton for comment and will update this story should we hear back.
