Martin Tyler Accused Of Being 'Bitter' About Raheem Sterling's Opener vs Newcastle

Manchester City fans believe Sky Sports commentator Martin Tyler sounded 'gutted' with Raheem Sterling's opening goal vs Newcastle United.

Sterling headed home City's first goal of the game at the Etihad Stadium en route to a comfortable 5-0 win.

Victory for City means they go three points clear of Liverpool at the top of the Premier League after their 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.

The chances of the title race going down to the wire are slightly lower, and many think Tyler noticed during his coverage of the game.

His full call was: "Beautifully set up for Raheem Sterling! They haven't scored inside the first 15 minutes this time, but inside 20. They're starting to think about life last Wednesday."

City were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in dramatic fashion in midweek thanks to a late Rodrygo brace and Karim Benzema penalty.

Fans have reacted and think it could be the most uninspiring commentary of the season.

Aymeric Laporte doubled City's lead seven minutes from the break after Martin Dubravka spilled Ilkay Gundogan's volley from the edge of the area.

Pep Guardiola's side dominated proceedings early in the second half and actually had 99 per cent possession in the opening exchanges.

Rodri nodded in a third from a Kevin De Bruyne corner just past the hour mark.

Phil Foden finished off a fine move to make it four before Sterling got his second of the game in added time to seal a fourth successive league win.

In those four games, City have managed to score a whopping 17 goals.

They return to action against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday evening, knowing they need seven points from their final three games to secure a second consecutive title and a fourth in five years.
