Mason Greenwood has 'decided next move' as 'European giant eye deal for Man Utd forward'

Mason Greenwood has 'decided next move' as 'European giant eye deal for Man Utd forward'

He remains suspended by Manchester United.

AC Milan are reportedly considering a move for Manchester United striker Mason Greenwood with his future at Old Trafford still in doubt.

Greenwood, 21, remains suspended by United while the club conducts a thorough investigation into his behaviour.

Greenwood was arrested at his home in January 2022 after allegations against the footballer were posted on social media.

He was later charged attempted rape, assault and coercive control and was due to stand trial in November before all charges against him were dropped after key witnesses withdrew their involvement in the case and new material came to light during a police investigation.

United are yet to decide whether Greenwood will be allowed to resume his career at Old Trafford.

The Guardian claim that United staff are split over whether Greenwood should be welcomed back despite the charges against him being dropped.

While a 'substantial proportion of the workforce would be deeply unhappy if Greenwood played for the club again', it is claimed that 'others feel a duty of care towards the player' who denied the charges against him and has not been found guilty of any crime.

The Athletic claim United have rejected offers from Turkish sides for Greenwood while the club's internal investigation continues, with Fenerbahce believed to be one of the clubs interested in signing the forward.

A new report from Relevo has now claimed that Italian giants AC Milan are also considering a move for Greenwood, should he be released or sold by United.

It is claimed that the Serie A club appreciate the 'technical qualities' of Greenwood, who scored 35 goals in 129 games for United before his suspension.

The report adds that Greenwood is keen to move abroad and is 'looking forward' to starting his career 'over' outside of England.

What has Greenwood said?

Greenwood released a short statement after the charges against him were dropped, which made no mention of his football career and plans for the future.

"I am relieved that this matter is now over and I would like to thank my family, loved ones and friends for their support," read the statement.

"There will be no further comment at this time."

Greenwood has not played for United in over a year, with his last appearance for the club coming against West Ham on January 22, 2022.
