Mason Mount's conversation with his dad in Man Utd changing room has Chelsea fans livid

Mason Mount's conversation with his dad in Man Utd changing room has Chelsea fans livid

Manchester United have posted behind-the-scenes footage of Mason Mount's first moments at the Premier League club.

Footage of a conversation between Mason Mount and his father in the Old Trafford dressing room has angered Chelsea fans.

Mount ended his 18-year association with boyhood club Chelsea this week. After completing his medical at Carrington on Monday, the midfielder penned a five-year contract at Manchester United worth a reported £250,000 per week.

United have since posted a behind-the-scenes look at Mount's first moments at the club via their official YouTube channel.

From meeting new teammate Lisandro Martinez to looking around Old Trafford, the England international looks genuinely excited to a Manchester United player following his £55 million move.

But one particular moment during the 13-minute video has infuriated Chelsea supporters.

As you can see in the dressing room footage above, Mount can be seen sitting next to his father, Tony, who played a crucial role in the transfer.

"Mason...this dressing room man....home mate, HOME," Tony says. "Who would have thought aye, when I brought you up here as a little boy..."

Mount then replies: "I know. Special isn't it."

Soon after the footage emerged online, a shedload of Chelsea fans have had their say on social media.

One fan said: "He’s now officially in the Courtois books by the way," while another wrote: "Chelsea vs Man United is going to be awkward at Stamford Bridge."

A third commented: "Just reminding you that some Chelsea fans defended Mason Mount for months over the club they support and cussed everyone from Bohely, to the fans, to Reece James to protect this man and his image."

A fourth added: "Certain man still defending him. Mount’s Chelsea legacy has been completely tarnished no matter what you say."

As mentioned earlier, Tony Mount played an important role in his son's big-money move to United.

After both clubs struggled to agree on a fee, Tony spoke to Chelsea co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali over the phone to 'smooth the path to an agreement', according to The Athletic.

Mason opened up about the transfer in an interview with United's official website this week.

“It’s never easy leaving the club where you grew up, but Manchester United will provide an exciting new challenge for the next phase of my career," he said.

"Having competed against them, I know just how strong a squad it is that I’m joining, and I can’t wait to be part of this group’s drive to win major trophies.

“Everyone can see that the club has made big steps forward under Erik ten Hag. Having met with the manager and discussed his plans, I couldn’t be more excited for the seasons ahead, and am ready for the hard work expected here.

“I am hugely ambitious; I know how amazing it feels to win major trophies and what it takes to do it. I will be giving everything to experience that again at Manchester United.”
