Mauro Icardi and Wanda Nara announce split, reportedly burned furniture at Lake Como villa

Mauro Icardi has officially split with wife Wanda Nara, as confirmed on Instagram.

Icardi met Wanda when he was teammates with Maxi Lopez at Sampdoria, with the striker inviting Icardi to his house and bringing him on trips away.

They got together and married in Buenos Aires in May 2014 - one year after she divorced Lopez - before having two daughters.

Wanda went on to become her husband's agent and their relationship has been the subject of many rumours in the press over the years.

But Wanda has now announced they have broken up and asked for privacy going forward.

To her 14.9 million Instagram followers, the mother of five wrote: “It’s a painful moment, but given my exposure and the media speculation that’s coming out, it’s preferable to hear it from me.

“I have nothing to declare and I don’t want to give any details about this separation. Please understand not only for me but also for our children.”

Interestingly, Argentine outlet LAM, via Get Italian Football News, had reported the two were burning furniture using a bonfire at their villa in Como.

The split comes less than a month after Icardi made a last-ditch loan move to Turkish side Galatasaray from Paris Saint-Germain.

There was talk that they were ending their relationship this year after a very public falling out where Wanda accused the former Inter Milan captain of cheating on her with Argentine model and actor China Suarez.

Pictures were deleted from their social media and Icardi also unfollowed his wife, though he did also post a series of soppy posts in a bid to win her back.

An emotionally-charged letter where Icardi admitted making a "bad mistake" was leaked and it appeared as though the pair were sticking together.

Wanda's first marriage with Lopez ended in 2013 and though it was claimed she allegedly had an affair, she has always maintained that her and Icardi starting seeing one another when she returned to Argentina.

Icardi had the names of Lopez's children tattooed on him. Although he refused to shake hands on the pitch on two occasions, Lopez has said he has forgiven Icardi for allegedly 'stealing his wife.'
