Kylian Mbappe has hit out at France Football Federation president Noel Le Graet after he claimed the superstar forward was prepared to QUIT the national team after Euro 2020.
Le Graet said Mbappe was considering calling time on his international career following abuse aimed at him after he missed his side's decisive penalty against Switzerland at Euro 2020.
He claimed that the Paris Saint-Germain man was upset over the lack of support from the criticism.
"I met with him after the Euros, he felt the Federation had not defended him after his missed penalty and the criticism on the networks," Le Graet told Le Journal Du Dimanche.
"We met for five minutes in my office.
"He was angry, he didn't want to play for the French team any more - which he obviously didn't mean.
"You know how it is, he's a winner, he was very frustrated, like all of us, by the elimination. He's so media-friendly.
"He's a great guy, much more collective than people think."
Mbappe wasted little time to respond to Le Graet's suggestion as he fired back on social media.
He tweeted: "Yes finally I explained to him above all well that it was in relation to racism and NO to the penalty. But he considered that there had been no racism..."
France were eliminated from Euro 2020 after the forward's penalty miss in last year's delayed tournament.
The 23-year-old, who has 57 international caps to his name, continued to represent France after Euro 2020.
He featured in all but one of his team's Nations League matches, playing against Denmark, Austria and Croatia.
