Kylian Mbappe misses two penalties, then gets substituted after picking up an injury

A night to forget for Kylian Mbappe.

Kylian Mbappe had not one but TWO moments to forget over his penalty for Paris Saint-Germain against Montpellier.

PSG had the chance to open the scoring in their Ligue 1 clash on Wednesday when the visitors were awarded a penalty.

Mbappe stepped up, but his effort was saved by Benjamin Lecomte who made a smart save to his right.

However, the match referee allowed PSG to retake the penalty after VAR adjudged the Montpellier goalkeeper to have encroached off his goal-line.

So, Mbappe once again had the chance to break the deadlock from the spot. Though he was unable to beat Lecomte on his retake.

His second penalty struck the post then he failed to score the rebound, blazing the ball over the bar in a nightmare sequence.

To make matters worse for the 24-year-old, he was forced off the pitch with a suspected thigh injury in the 21st minute.

It's a worrying sign for PSG boss Christophe Galtier, who will be hoping the forward is available and fit for their Champions League clash against Bayern Munich in two weeks.

Without Mbappe, PSG beat Montpellier 3-1 to extend their lead at the top of the league by five points.

Fabian Ruiz opened the scoring in the 51st minute. Lionel Messi added a second in the 72nd minute.

Arnaud Nordin pulled one back in the 89th minute, with 16-year-old Warren Zaire-Emery restoring PSG's two-goal advantage in stoppage time.
