Mohamed Salah Wants £500,000-A-Week To Sign New Liverpool Deal

Mohamed Salah Wants £500,000-A-Week To Sign New Liverpool Deal

Liverpool are hoping Salah will be the latest player to sign a new contract but the forward wants to become their highest ever paid player.

Mohamed Salah is willing to sign a new deal at Liverpool, but the forward wants a staggering £500,000-a-week to stay at Anfield beyond 2023.

Salah has been a sensation in the Premier League since moving to Liverpool from Roma in June 2017, and has helped the club win the league and Champions League.

The Egyptian has scored 97 league goals in just 148 appearances and has won the Golden Boot on two occasions, so it's no wonder Jurgen Klopp's team want him the 29-year-old's future to remain with them.

Salah's contract has just under two years left to run on it and his next deal could be the last big one he signs, be it with the Reds or elsewhere.

According to the Mirror, Salah wants £500,000-a-week in order to extend his contract further than the two years left on his current deal, which could force Liverpool to sell.

If the club agreed to his demands then it would make him by far the highest paid player in the history of the club, though that is apparently unlikely to happen.

The report claims that owners FSG are happy to give him a big pay increase, from his current reported £200,000-a-week, but don't want to break their wage structure to keep him.

The former Chelsea forward has been linked with moves to Real Madrid, Barcelona and PSG in the past and the current situation could interest them.

La Liga sides aren't exactly the most flush with cash right now, especially Barca, and Real are mostly interested in signing Kylian Mbappe from PSG. However the French side could target Salah as a replacement for their man if everything does happen as expected.

The Liverpool owners haven't been known to be big spenders and, whilst Manchester City, Manchester United and Chelsea went big in this summer's transfer window, the seven time European champions only signed Ibrahima Konate.

They have also focussed on signing their most important players to new deals, with Alisson, Jordan Henderson and Virgil van Dijk amongst those to have already signed on.

Getting Salah to agree to stay beyond 2023 would surely be next on the agenda for Klopp and the owners.

Will he stay or will Liverpool be forced to cash in next summer?
