Newcastle in advanced talks to sign Tino Livramento for 'bargain of the summer' price

Newcastle in advanced talks to sign Tino Livramento for 'bargain of the summer' price

Premier League outfit Newcastle United are already making some serious moves in the summer transfer window.

Newcastle United are reportedly in advanced talks to sign Southampton full-back Tino Livramento in a deal that has been described by many as a 'bargain'.

The Magpies have been extremely active in the opening weeks of the window.

Sandro Tonali, the highly-rated central midfielder, will sign a six-year deal at Newcastle in the coming days, according to Fabrizio Romano.

A fee of €70 million [£59m] plus add-ons has been agreed between AC Milan and Newcastle, with Tonali set to earn €9 million [£7.7m] per year.

As well as Tonali, Eddie Howe's side have been linked with moves for James Maddison, Youssef En-Nesyri and Dominik Szoboszlai as they plan to add strength in depth ahead of a campaign in the Champions League.

Newcastle are intent on signing two midfielders this summer, according to The Athletic, who suggest a defensive and a more versatile option are being targeted.

It also appears a versatile full-back is also on the menu, with The Telegraph suggesting the Premier League club are pursuing a move for Tino Livramento.

Livramento, who missed over a year of action after sustaining an anterior cruciate ligament injury in April 2022, is rated highly by Eddie Howe

In fact, Howe believes the 20-year-old defender can become a 'key addition' at St James' Park.

A price has yet to be agreed upon, although Southampton are said to value Livramento at around £30 million. Newcastle, meanwhile, feel a price around half the amount would suffice, with a £12 million fee suggested.

The report also claims another proposal includes cash plus Ryan Fraser, a player that is out of contract this summer.

Here's how fans on social media reacted to the transfer news.

One said: "Kind of love Newcastle recruitment. Livramento for 12M if he can stay injury free is an absolute bargain," while another commented: "That might be one of the bargains of the summer."

A third wrote: "Newcastle are in negotiations to sign Tino Livramento for £12m?! That’s an absolutely bargain, man. I can’t fathom how or why more clubs aren’t on this, the kid’s still one of the most promising RB prospects around."

A fourth said: "Exceptionally smart business by Ashworth and Co again if they can get him over the line. Poaching young PL proven talents from relegated teams at cut-price deals - top recruitment strategy. £12m would be a bargain."

A fifth added: "I absolutely adore this signing. £12m is an incredible bargain too. Valentino Livramento was performing at a seriously high level before his ACL injury, and still has the potential to be one of the best in the PL. Athletic, technically sound + final third quality. Top prospect."
