An Australian referee officiated his final A-League match in an interesting way after wearing a live microphone throughout the entire clash.
Jarred Gillett, who will soon be applying his trade in the Championship, was in charge for Melbourne Victory against Brisbane Roar, which was his 159th match in the league.
BT Sport has released highlights from the match, which provides some interesting insight into important moments where Gillett had to take action.
In fact, there was one instance where the 32-year-old referee was speaking with Kris Griffiths-Jones, who was manning the VAR for the match.
While Gillett was convinced that he has made the right call and Jones agrees with him, the Australian referee asks if he wants him to "come and have a look to sell it?"
Check it out below.
Interestingly, most football fans would be open to the idea of seeing this rolled out in the Premier League.
"I personally like this. Very few players arguing or surrounding the ref as 'he's in charge,' not them..." one Twitter user wrote.
Another said: "What a revolutionary idea! How on earth do they thing [sic] of these things?!"
A third wrote: "If they can do it in the A-League [...], they should be able to do it here! Hope it happens!"
A fourth added: "I know it's only for his last game, etc., but really like the idea of this. Ends a lot of speculation."
