Ralf Rangnick has been appointed as Manchester United's interim manager until the end of the season, and a starting XI revealing some of the German's best signings shows some serious talent.

Erik Haaland is arguably the most high-profile player included, and is named as the lone frontman in a 4-2-3-1 formation of Rangnick's former acquisitions which has been posted on Twitter.

The German oversaw the Norwegian megastar's move from Molde to Red Bull Salzburg in January 2019, as the 21-year-old began his journey to superstardom.

He also brought Liverpool star Sadio Mane to the Austrian club from Metz in £3million deal back in August 2012.

These are just two of several world-class players that have seen their careers blossom under the 63-year-old's tutelage, as shown in this stellar line-up.

Roberto Firmino, Timo Werner, Emile Smith-Rowe, Naby Keita and Ibrahima Konaté are the five other Premier League players included.

Alongside Haaland, Bayern Munich trio Manuel Neuer, Dayot Upamecano and Joshua Kimmich represent the Bundesliga contingent, while Real Madrid's David Alaba is the lone representative from La Liga.

It is a formidable set of players and further illustrates the huge amount of respect which Rangnick commands in the game.

He will need to draw upon all of expertise in a bid to turn around what has been a poor season for United so far, who are currently 12 points adrift of league leaders Chelsea with only 13 games played.

His first game in charge could come as soon as Thursday night, when the Red Devils host Arsenal at Old Trafford, should his work permit application be received in time.

Michael Carrick is in caretaker charge of the side for now, and was in the dugout for a hard-fought draw at Stamford Bridge on Sunday - a morale-boosting result following the bruising defeats to Liverpool and Manchester City in recent weeks.

The United hierarchy will be desperately hoping that Rangnick brings the feel-good factor back to Old Trafford.
