Angel Di Maria has launched a scathing attack on the Manchester United number seven shirt and called Louis van Gaal the 'worst' coach of his career.

Paris Saint-Germain star Di Maria pulled no punches when reminiscing about his time at Old Trafford.

The Argentina winger joined the Premier League giants in 2014 following a blockbuster move from Real Madrid.

But he endured a miserable spell in England, lasting just one season before leaving for PSG.

He was coached by Van Gaal at Man United, with Di Maria highlighting him as the root of his problems at the club.

Di Maria also played down the enormity of the Man United number seven shirt in a damning assessment.

Speaking to TyC Sports via @utdreport, he said: "I didn't give a f**k about the Manchester United number seven, at first they talked to me a lot about it... it was just a shirt.

"My problem at Manchester was the coach."

On the veteran Dutch manager, he added: "Van Gaal was the worst [coach] of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes.

"He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn't like players being more than him."

Van Gaal stuck around for one more season before being let go despite winning the FA Cup.

Of course, Di Maria returned to his prolific form at PSG, helping them win countless of domestic titles.

To some, though, he will be remembered for his disdain towards Man United.
