And there's still some big, big players missing...

Just imagine Patrice Evra bursting down the left-flank, laying off Yaya Toure who strides through middle of the park, passes to James Rodriguez who pierces a ball to Thierry Henry.

You get the picture, AS Monaco have had some some luxurious players on their books throughout the years.

Porto - What Could Have Been:

The French outfit have enjoyed a varying degree of success in the Champions League. No trophies to account for, though, only a couple semi-final spots while finishing as runners-up to FC Porto in 2004.

That's despite boasting some world class players, even if some of them where in their infancy stage en route to super stardom.

Henry, for example, was still a budding talent who was finding his way at AS Monaco. He eventually converted into a striker at Arsenal becoming a legend while also scoring the most goals for the club.

AS Monaco also had teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe during the 2016/17 campaign.

The youngster broke a plethora of records during that term after his continued goal scoring brilliance in the knockout stages.

We haven't even touched on their midfielders.

We're talking James Rodriguez (even if he was only at the club for one season), Yaya Toure, Ludovic Giuly, to name but a few.

Not to mention defensive duo Rafael Marquez and Ricardo Carvalho plying their trade at the club. The Mexican left for Barcelona. As for Carvalho, he forged a legendary career at Chelsea under Jose Mourinho.

We appreciate this is a complete fantasy, but, hey, it's a bit of fun celebrating AS Monaco's history of illustrious players.

Here is the 'what could have been' AS Monaco XI:

Magnifique.

Bear in mind that the likes of Anthony Marital, David Trezeguet, Youri Djorkaeff and the recently departed Fabinho - who continues AS Monaco's mass exodus by joining Liverpool - to name but a few, don't even make the first XI.

Blimey.
