It was really THAT good.

Cristiano Ronaldo will travel to the Estádio do Dragão on Wednesday night as Serie A champions Juventus come up against FC Porto in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie.

It's a stadium that holds great memories for the five-time Ballon d'Or winner. The last time Ronaldo faced the Primeira Liga side, back in April 2009, he scored a 40-yard pile-driver to put Manchester United ahead in the quarter-final stage of the Champions League.

In the sixth minute of the tie, Brazilian midfielder Anderson found Ronaldo in space. Seconds after receiving the ball from distance, he unleashed an absolute rocket from range, leaving Porto goalkeeper Helton with no chance between the sticks.

The shot was clocked at 64.2mph as it nestled into the top corner. That's one hell of a strike.

It was a goal he would call the best of his career. [That's until he scored that overhead-kick against Juventus]. In fact, Ronaldo was so delighted with his effort that he got a copy of the goal made on DVD so he could watch it over and over again.

The goal was praised by many, including former teammate Ryan Giggs, who said the goal showed him that Ronaldo could become the best player in the world.

"There was that goal he scored against Porto, he was about 40 yards out. It was an unbelievable, unbelievable goal." Giggs told Super Six.

"To go back to Portugal against one of his rivals when he was growing up, there have been three or four times on a pitch where I have gone 'Wow' and that was one of them."

Sir Alex Ferguson later described the goal as "sensational" and admitted he "would have to go a long way back in the memory bank" to find another one like that.

Is this the greatest goal of Cristiano Ronaldo's career to date?
