Bazunu managed to save a Ronaldo penalty when the sides last clashed in September and the 19-year-old is regarded as a top prospect for the future.
On the pitch this evening, Pepe was sent off for two bookable offences, the second seeing him catch Callum Robinson in the face with a flailing arm.
A draw means Portugal only need to avoid defeat against Serbia on Sunday to top the group.
