If it feels as though Germany have been in a lot of major tournament semi-finals, it's because they have. In fact, 'Die Mannschaft' have been in seven semi-finals against host nations, alone and will play their eighth, against France in Marseille, tonight. And the German's social media team couldn't resist a sly dig at the last host nation they played in a final four match, ahead of tonight's game.
The Germans' record against host nations in semi-finals is currently 6-1 with Belgium (Euro '72), Yugoslavia (Euro '76), Sweden (Euro '92), England (Euro '96), South Korea (World Cup 2002) and Brazil (World Cup 2014) all being heartbroken in front of home crowds at the penultimate hurdle.
However, it Felipe Scolari's Brazil who came in for the most punishment, being destroyed 7-1 in Belo Horizonte by Joachim Loew's World Champions elect. And tonight, the 'Selecao' have been cruelly reminded of that fateful night by the German national team's official Twitter account.

Savage, but very funny. The Germans have seen off the French in two major semi-finals before, in the 1982 and '86 World Cups. Will three be the magic number for Jogi Loew and his team, tonight or will it be third time lucky for 'Les Bleus'?
