Ex-Reds striker Michael Owen had an absolute nightmare predicting the Champions League final on Robbie Savage’s Saturday Morning Savage.

Michael Owen was left red-faced after he predicted that this season's Champions League final would be Liverpool against Barcelona.

Of course, that final would be impossible to take place on the basis that the two sides are playing against each other in the semi-final, but it seems that the ex-Liverpool and Real Madrid striker forgot the memo on that one.

Appearing on Robbie Savage's Saturday Morning Savage, Owen left Chris Sutton howling with laughter after he said that his Champions League finalists would be Barça and the Reds.

Unsurprisingly, football fans shared their thoughts on the 39-year-old pundit's 'prediction' on Twitter.

Barcelona secured a 3-0 victory over Liverpool at the Camp Nou, with Lionel Messi stealing the show after he scored an incredible free-kick.

Despite the scoreline, Liverpool boss Jürgen Klopp believes that it was his side's best away performance for two seasons.

"I don't know if we can play much better," he said after the match (via BBC Sport).

"I think it was the best away game in the Champions League -- not only this year, last year included.

"I told the boys I'm proud of how we played. Against a side like this, playing this kind of football, I was completely happy.

"In the end, nobody is really interested -- probably only football nerds will think about it -- because it was about the result, and we lost 3-0.

"I can work really well with this game. I will use this game to show the boys what is possible. It was a brave performance that was very passionate, very lively and, in a lot of moments, creative and direct."

Liverpool host Ernesto Valverde's men at Anfield on Tuesday for their second-leg Champions League semi-final clash.

Will Liverpool make a comeback against Barcelona and progress to the Champions League final?
