Thierry Henry Once Gave A Monaco Star The Coldest Stare After Not Tucking His Chair In

Benoit Badiashile probably still has nightmares about former Monaco manager Thierry Henry after this Champions League press conference.

Thierry Henry's attempts to rebuild Monaco during his ill-fated managerial spell at the club seemed to start with instilling discipline in the players -- and by doing it the hard way.

The 43-year-old Arsenal legend replaced Leonardo Jardim in 2018 and faced an uphill task as Monaco sat in Ligue 1's relegation zone at the time of his appointment.

Henry, who was sacked only three months after his appointment, showed how much he valued discipline and simple manners when he had Benoit Badiashile with him during a press conference for their Champions League clash with Borussia Dortmund.

When the briefing was all done and dusted, the two were getting ready to leave and the Monaco star forgot to tuck in his chair.

And Henry had one of the coldest death stares for the 19-year-old defender after he walked away from the table with his chair being left out.

It is hardly surprising that the former Monaco boss waited for Badiashile to scurry back to the table, tuck his chair in and then walked off the stage.

Wow. If looks could kill, then Henry has perfected that as an art form. It's hard not to say that he has a demeanour that most secondary school teachers wish they could have when they're dealing with a bunch of teenagers.

Or maybe he's been watching a bit too much of Samuel L Jackson in Coach Carter.

Henry, who is now managing Montreal Impact in the MLS, was unable to turn around Monaco's fortunes and the club were 19th at the time of his sacking in January 2019.

The former Barcelona and Arsenal striker managed to pick up four wins, five draws and 11 defeats during his 20 matches in charge of the French club.

Benjamin Henrichs, who is on loan at RB Leipzig from Monaco, admitted that he was "extremely sad" when Henry was sacked from the club.

"I suffered with him," he said. "When a coach is sacked, it usually means that you've done something wrong as a team.

"For him personally, it is extremely sad. Although he did not succeed in Monaco, I'm convinced that he has the potential to become a great coach.

"I was thrilled to get a legend like Henry as a coach. I really enjoyed training and playing under him. You can learn a lot from such a football personality.

"After the first training session for a moment I thought, 'I'm dreaming.' Suddenly, Thierry Henry was my coach.

"When he played at Arsenal or Barcelona, he was one of my biggest heroes and I cheered him in front of the TV."
