Konami have released the trailer for PES 2021 ahead of its launch on September 15.

On Wednesday, the Japanese gaming company announced PES 2021 will be a season update at a discounted price as opposed to a brand new game.

It means that there will be minimal changes or development for the next PES title, aside from updates regarding players and clubs.

But as we see in the new trailer, there is emphasis on recreating 'Iconic Moments' from the careers of Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, David Beckham, Dennis Bergkamp and Oliver Kahn.

Messi's breathtaking solo goal as a 19-year old against Getafe and Beckham's halfway lane worldie for Manchester United against Wimbledon are just two of the classic goals that can be revisited in PES 2021.

Also featured in the trailer is the managerial trio of Pep Guardiola, Frank Lampard and Ryan Giggs, who have all been scanned.

It's unfortunate that fans will not be getting a full game to mark the 25th anniversary of the PES series but this is because Konami are prioritising the next generation of consoles - PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X - ahead of a slated 2021 release for PES 2022.

In fact, there's already been a teaser trailer showing Messi in the new Barcelona home kit, with close ups of his face and Adidas Nemeziz boots, to give a hint of what fans can expect as PES moves with the next wave of technology.

Switching to 'Unreal Engine', Konami are promising "more realistic player models and animations, enhanced physics, photorealistic visuals" and say next-gen testing will begin in mid 2021.

While PES players wait for the season update to drop, the official Euro 2020 video game is available to download for free and contains all 55 participating UEFA national teams.
