Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's overhaul of Manchester United will continue to move ahead as the Red Devils boss has an eight-man shortlist of transfer targets.

The 46-year-old Norwegian, who was appointed permanently in March, started to lay the foundations for his United squad in the summer with the addition of three signings.

And the United boss is hoping to continue his squad revamp once the transfer window opens in January.

According to ESPN, the club have an eight-man list of long-term transfer targets that they are hoping to land.

Red Bull Salzburg striker Erling Haland, who has been in scintillating form this season, is one of the 'key targets' alongside Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho.

And United reportedly have a keen interest in Leicester City's James Maddison and West Ham's Declan Rice.

ESPN also added that Solskjaer is looking at more Premier League options and Aston Villa duo John McGinn and Jack Grealish are on the shortlist alongside Bournemouth striker Callum Wilson.

The final name on the shortlist is Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, who left Celtic in 2018 to complete a move to the French side.

United are ready to crack open their war chest and start spending in January, but ESPN claims that will only happen if they can land one of their long-term targets.

Solskjaer splashed out in the summer as United broke the world-record transfer fee on a defender when they paid a whopping £80m for Harry Maguire.

And United reinforced their backline options after they dropped £50m on Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace.

Solskjaer also managed to add an attacking option to his side after United snapped up Daniel James from Swansea City for £15m.

United are seventh in the Premier League and are nine points off fourth-placed Manchester City.

The Red Devils will return to Premier League action on 24th November with an away trip to Sheffield United.
