James, 21, joined United from Swansea City for £15 million this summer.
The Welsh winger prepared himself for pre-season by going on a training programme in Dubai last month, and his hard work has appeared to have paid off.
James has reportedly dominated his teammates in every pre-season fitness test, and has also maxed out the bleep tests according to reports via Mirror.

A United source reportedly said: "The word from Carrington is very encouraging on young James.
"He is clearly ahead of the game. He has topped all the early fitness charts. Ole was impressed with seeing him doing his own work.
"He came out top in the sprints, even the short ones, by a good margin of five or so yards.
"He did one 50-metre sprint that left team-mates five metres behind him and also maxing out the bleep test."
James rose to prominence last season after a breakout campaign for Swansea in the Championship.
He played 38 games and scored five goals from the wing in all competitions.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is delighted to have James in his squad ahead of the new season.
"Daniel is an exciting young winger with lots of skills, vision, exceptional pace and a good work ethic. He had a great season with Swansea City and has all the attributes needed to become a Manchester United player," he said after securing his services on a five-year contract.
"We are delighted he has signed with our club and we are all looking forward to working with him. This is the perfect environment for Daniel to continue his development."
James has flown out to Australia with the rest of the United squad for their pre-season tour.
