It seems as if everyone is feeling sorry for Bastian Schweinsteiger at the minute. The former Germany captain is currently enduring a humiliating freeze out at Manchester United, being forced to train with the U23 squad as Jose Mourinho attempts to force the midfielder out of Old Trafford.

Many Bayern Munich alumni and Schweinsteiger's brother Tobi have hit out at Mourinho for his treatment of the World Cup and Champions League winning 31-year-old, who today confirmed that he would not play for another club in Europe. And now Neuer has had his say on the matter.

"It's very bitter and sad. We know how important Bastian was for all his teams, no matter if it was Bayern or the national team. For me he was one of the best midfielders in the world and still is.So it's sad that the football world can't see him right now."

With Schweinsteiger likely commanding huge wages, MLS or the Chinese Super League seem like his most likely destinations should he leave United in the next week.
