Former Manchester United trio Bastian Schweinsteiger, Wayne Rooney and Zlatan Ibrahimović are among the ten highest-paid players in the MLS.

The MLS Players Union released the salaries for 2019 and Ibrahimović came out on top of the pile.

According to the figures, the 37-year-old ex-Barcelona and Inter Milan striker earns $7.2m at LA Galaxy.

Former LA Galaxy and Villarreal player Giovani dos Santos locked down second place with his hefty $6.5m pay package, while Toronto's Michael Bradley came third with $6.4m.

And further down the list is ex-Bayern Munich star Bastian Schweinsteiger, who earns $5m at Chicago Fire.

But Rooney is even further down the top ten at ninth, with England and United's all-time record scorer carrying a $3.5m salary at DC United.

Posted below are the top ten highest-paid players in the MLS.

Ibrahimović, who signed a new deal with LA Galaxy before the start of the season, has been flying high during his current campaign in the MLS.

The Swedish superstar has made 12 appearances and scored 11 times, along with grabbing three assists along the way.

But he came under criticism after serving a two-match suspension for grabbing New York City's Sean Johnson in LA Galaxy's 2-0 defeat last month.

And when the towering striker made his return in LA Galaxy's 2-0 win over Sporting Kansas City -- both scoring and assisting in the match -- Ibrahimović said he wasn't fazed by the criticism.

"Criticism is everywhere. I like it because I eat it for breakfast and then for lunch... I love performing under pressure because that is like fuel for me," he told reporters.

"The more [criticism], the better I get."

Should Ibrahimović be the best-paid player in the MLS?
