RB Leipzig are demanding a world-record fee off Bayern Munich for manager Julian Nagelsmann.

News emerged today that Nagelsmann had agreed terms to become Bayern's next manager after Hansi Flick revealed he told the club his desire to leave at the end of the current campaign.

Sky in Germany say on Sunday Bayern reached out to Leipzig and then Nagelsmann, who then negotiated and thrashed out personal terms.

But Leipzig, who are second and seven points behind Bayern in the Bundesliga table, want a substantial fee for the 33-year-old.

It's said the Red Bull club want €25 million for Nagelsmann's services. It would be the highest fee ever paid for a manager but it just shows how valued the former Hoffenheim boss is as a coach within the game.

Nicknamed 'Baby Mourinho', Nagelsmann had been linked with the vacancy at Spurs but now looks set to make the step up to Bayern, who have already secured the services of Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano.

Leipzig's ideal plan of action would be to draft in Jesse March as Nagelsmann's replacement. March has been in charge of sister club Red Bull Salzburg since 2019 and is on course to lead the Austrian side to a second consecutive league title.

Nagelsmann guided Leipzig to the Champions League semi-finals last term, while they were knocked out in the round of 16 by Liverpool this time around.

Flick, having won the treble last term, after taking the Bayern job in November 2019, is one of the frontrunners to replace Joachim Low as Germany manager after the Euro 2020 tournament.

Flick's fractured relationship with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic is said to be the main reason for him asking Bayern to terminate his contract.
