Donny van de Beek announced on social media earlier that he and his wife are expecting their first child... and former Netherlands international Andy van der Meyde couldn't resist a baby name suggestion in the comments section.

In a post to his 2.4 million followers on Instagram, the Manchester United midfielder attached a picture of himself with partner Estelle - the daughter of former Arsenal striker Dennis Bergkamp - with the caption: "Happy to announce that we're expecting a little one."

You can see the posts from both Donny and Estelle below.

Van de Beek, who has struggled for minutes in a United shirt this season, playing just five minutes of Premier League football, was congratulated by a number of his teammates, including Jesse Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial.

Former Everton and Netherlands midfielder Andy van der Meyde also decided to comment on the post with an Ole-themed baby name suggestion. He wrote: "Congratulations, will the name be Ole Gunnar?" followed by a laughing emoji and a love heart.

Solskjaer did decide to give the midfielder some much-deserved game time in their Champions League clash against Atalanta on Tuesday night and after the full-time whistle, the Norwegian praised both Sancho and Van de Beek's impact from the bench.

"I thought the qualities they have could make an impact," he said.

"Jadon was sharp. We wanted a little bit more width on the side because we put Edinson on. Bruno played well and you want him out there, but I felt we needed a little bit more width to get the crosses in for Edinson or Cristiano.

"Donny provided the run for the last goal and he keeps working. He's got qualities in there to unlock close defences and he almost scored as well. I thought all of those who came on did well."

Do you think Van de Beek deserves more game time?
