Angel Di Maria's latest foul-mouthed comments about his time at Manchester United has got fans reminiscing about the time he was shoulder-barged into a barrier on his return to Old Trafford.

In a recent interview with TyC Sports, the Argentinian made a number of comments about his former club, including the number seven shirt and "the worst coach of my career" Louis van Gaal, who originally brought him to England.

"I didn't give a f*ck about the Manchester United No. 7, at first they talked to me a lot about it, it was just a shirt," he said. "My problem at Manchester was the coach.

"Van Gaal was the worst of my career. I would score, assist, and the next day he would show me my misplaced passes. He displaced me from one day to the other, he didn't like players being more than him."

Di Maria penned a five-year deal at United worth a record-breaking £59.7 million in the summer of 2014 and naturally, expectations were high after a successful four-year spell at Real Madrid.

But despite scoring early on in his United career against Leicester, the tricky winger struggled to adapt to life in the Premier League and in July 2015 - after making just 32 appearances for the club - he left to join Paris Saint-Germain.

The 28-year-old has since enjoyed a trophy-laden spell at the Parc des Princes. He has lifted three domestic quadruples with Les Parisiens, including four league titles and five Coupe de France wins.

That being said, his return to Old Trafford in 2019 was a mixed bag.

Four years after his bitter departure, Di Maria went up against his former club in a Champions League Round of 16 clash. It was here where Di Maria appeared to swear at home supporters after assisting the opening goal in a 2-0 win.

He then went on to celebrate Presnel Kimpembe's finish by pretending to drink a bottle of beer and in turn, United fans voiced their displeasure at the scene.

It was clear to see that what United fans thought of Di Maria but plenty of cheers rang around Old Trafford when Ashley Young clattered into the winger, sending him flying into the metal barriers.

Di Maria's memories of his sour spell under Louis van Gaal are far from fond. In fact, PSG teammate Marcin Bulka told FootTruck earlier this year that the Argentine rushes for the remote if he even catches Manchester United on TV.

"Di Maria hates Manchester United," said the goalkeeper. "He has no good memory of the time he spent there.

"In fact, when something related to Manchester United appears on television, he changes the channel quickly."
