Donald Trump Jr Ruthlessly Mocks Megan Rapinoe Over 'Woke Politics' After US Women's Olympics Defeat

Donald Trump Jr has followed in his father's footsteps by pulling no punches towards Megan Rapinoe and the United States women's team after their "wokeism" at Tokyo 2020.

The US women were stunned in their opening Group G clash after suffering a devastating 3-0 defeat to Sweden in Tokyo.

The 2019 Women's World Cup holders took a knee before the match in support of Black Lives Matter, which was met with criticism from former US President Donald Trump.

Rapinoe, who replaced Tobin Heath in the second half, insisted that she 'welcomes' criticism.

However, the 36-year-old Reign winger claimed that the media criticism of women's sports "still needs to get better."

Trump Jr took to Twitter and called out Rapinoe over her response to the backlash surrounding the US team's decision to take a knee.

The 43-year-old, who has been tipped to run for president in 2024, tweeted: "Hey Megan... maybe its [sic] you!"

Rapinoe admitted that her team, who were one of the favourites going into the 2020 Summer Olympics, "didn't play well" against Sweden.

"It says to me that people are watching the games and understand the importance of games and understand different teams," the US international said (via Yahoo! Sports).

"I don't mind that stuff. I think everything they said was right.

"We didn't play well. Sweden did get the better of us."

Trump's father launched an astonishing rant against the US team after their defeat to Sweden and accused them of supporting "woke" politics.

Speaking at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, the 75-year-old said: "Wokeism makes you lose, ruins your mind and ruins you as a person. You become warped. You become demented.

"The US women's soccer team is a very good example of what's going on.

"Earlier this week they unexpectedly lost to Sweden, three-to-nothing, and Americans were happy about it."

The US women bounced back from their opening defeat to thump New Zealand 6-1 before securing a 0-0 draw against Australia.

Vlatko Andonovski's side, who finished second behind Sweden in Group G, will clash with the Netherlands on 30th July in the quarter-finals in Yokohama.
