Someone Has Already Created A Petition Calling For A Rematch Between England vs Denmark's Euro 2020 Semi-Final Clash

"I agree. It was a BS call in favour of England," one fan said. A petition has demanded UEFA "overrule" the controversial penalty decision.

One furious football fan has launched a petition demanding a rematch between England vs Denmark after the Three Lions were awarded a controversial penalty.

Mikkel Damsgaard stunned England in the first half at Wembley after scoring a sensational free-kick in Denmark's Euro 2020 semi-final clash on Wednesday.

However, England bounced back ahead of full-time as Denmark captain Simon Kjaer bundled the ball past Kasper Schmeichel while attempting to intercept a dangerous Bukayo Saka cross.

Neither England nor Denmark could break the deadlock in normal playing time as the semi-final tie went to extra time.

The Three Lions were awarded a soft penalty in the first half of extra time after Raheem Sterling was fouled by Joakim Maehle.

Harry Kane then stepped up for the subsequent penalty and saw his awful spot-kick effort saved by Kasper Schmeichel, only for the England captain to fire in the rebound.

England punched their ticket to the final of the Euros with their 2-1 win, but one fan is far from happy with the controversial penalty decision.

Cris Pinto took to Change.org and started the petition to call on UEFA to "overrule" the penalty decision as there was "absolutely no contact."

The Change.org user wrote: "We wish to overrule the penalty decision against Denmark.

"It was a wrong call, there needs to be contact for a penalty and there was absolutely no contact.

"If this is not overruled, it would show a failure by UEFA and the beautiful game of football."

However, the petition has only reached 76 signatures at the time of this writing.

While the petition could still build momentum in the aftermath of the semi-final, those who have already signed it have shared their dissatisfaction over the penalty decision.

"I would like to see [a] penalty shootout between [the] two teams and a fair result," one user said.

Someone else posted: "I agree. It was a BS call in favour of England."

While a third wrote: "Come on, ref. At this crucial time at least, all you have to do is take a look at the VAR video."

And a fourth added: "Not a penalty. 2nd ball on the pitch, match should've stopped."

Gareth Southgate's men reached their first final of a major international competition since England's iconic 1966 World Cup triumph.

England will now clash with Italy in the final of Euro 2020 at Wembley on 11th July.
