Italy captain Giorgio Chiellini gave a passionate post-match interview in incredible English after Italy defeated England in the Euro 2020 final.

The Juventus defender was part of a strong defence alongside Leonardo Bonucci that restricted England to just two shots on target across 120 minutes last Sunday.

Chiellini performed excellently throughout the entire tournament despite having a minor injury and capped the summer off with Italy's first major trophy since their World Cup in 2006.

Whilst Chiellini did come under great criticism for his cynical challenge on Bukayo Saka in the last minutes of normal time, he was applauded for his overall defensive display and impressed with his excellent fluency in English after the game.

He said: "It was a tough game. We started in the worst way possible with England scoring after two minutes.

"Difficult for us with all the fans in the stadium giving them energy to win. But we were quiet and calm, which was important.

"Then we started to play, play, play. We found the right pass, we found the right shot. This is the way to win."

Later on in the interview, he expressed his joy in winning his first ever major trophy with the Azzuri: "It's a dream come true. It's unbelievable. We felt some magic at the start of the competition and it's grown day by day.

"We feel inside to come in Wembley, it's too difficult but I'm so happy, more than happy. We've seen the image of (Fabio) Cannavaro and now we are lucky altogether."

Chiellini's joy was clear to see for all on social media as he tweeted "It's coming Rome" and later posted an image of the trophy in his hotel bedroom in the early hours of the morning after celebrating with the squad.
