Nice have been docked two points and Marseille physio Pablo Fernandez will serve a one-year ban from football, as the fallout continues from the ugly scenes which marred the Ligue 1 clash between Nice and Marseille on 23rd August.
Nice were leading their French Riviera rivals 1-0 in the 75th minute when the hostile atmosphere inside the Allianz Riviera boiled over after Dimitri Payet threw a bottle back into the crowd, which sparked a hugely unsavoury pitch invasion that led to the game being suspended.
The hosts came back out onto the pitch 80 minutes after the game was abruptly halted with a willingness to restart the match, but Marseille refused to do so, citing concerns over their players' welfare.

Players, staff members and fans were all involved in the abhorrent events that followed, and the match will now be replayed at a later date.
Goal reported that Fernandez will face a season-long ban, after reportedly punching a Nice fan in the chest according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
Meanwhile, several other Marseille representatives will also be sanctioned, after a night which the French footballing authorities will be eager to forget.

The details from a Ligue de Football Professionnel disciplinary hearing have also confirmed that 'The Eaglets' will be deducted two points - one of which is to be suspended.
A statement on the LFP website read: "Meeting this Wednesday, the Disciplinary Commission of the LFP ruled on the incidents which occurred the third round Ligue 1 Uber Eats match between OGC Nice and Olympique de Marseille,
"After reading the investigation report in the presence of the two clubs, the Commission decided to replay the match behind closed-doors on a relocated field. In addition, two penalty points were imposed on OGC Nice, including one suspended point."

The backbiting and bad blood between both clubs continue to this day, with Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere reportedly accusing Marseille's Matteo Guendouzi of lying about his injuries in quotes published by L'Equipe - allegations which his club have denied, claiming he was checked by an independent doctor.
