Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Looked Stunned When Reporter Told Him That Harry Maguire Said They 'Lacked Belief' Against Man City

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looked surprised when a reporter informed him that club captain Harry Maguire said they 'lacked belief' in their Premier League clash against Manchester City.

It was a disappointing afternoon for the Reds, who were outplayed by their local rivals on derby day.

Goals from Eric Bailly [OG] and Bernardo Silva sealed a deserved 2-0 win for Pep Guardiola's men as United struggled throughout, recording just one shot on target and 32% possession at Old Trafford.

All eyes are now on Solskjaer after losing six of his last 12 games and things didn't get much better after the full-time whistle, when StadiumAstro spoke about Harry Maguire's post-match comments.

As you can see in the clip below, the Norwegian was asked how it felt knowing some of his players had said they lack belief.

He laughs and asks if they really did say they lacked belief. The rest was an awkward watch.

After the reporter tells Solskjaer that it was indeed Maguire who said United lacked that belief against City, he looked up to the sky before saying: "It's a big thing, we're human beings.

"That's our job now, my job, to work on and make sure we go into the next game with the right mentality, a winning mentality."

Despite suffering defeat in the Manchester derby, Solskjaer is optimistic about the future.

"Definitely," he said when asked if he could still salvage United's season.

"And you're right, back to where we should be, for me it's about back to what we started to look like, we started to look a proper team, we started to look like a team I like to see. We've had three or four weeks now of a disappointing spell.

"The result and performance against Tottenham was good but it's not what we want to look like, to put it that way. We want to be on the front foot and more aggressive.

"But unfortunately, we've had to try and get a few good results. We got a couple against Atalanta and Tottenham but today was a big step back."
