Phil Foden Tops List Of 100 Most Valuable Players In Europe With £163.4m Price Tag

The England international tops the CIES list after an impressive season at Manchester City.

Manchester City midfielder Phil Foden is the most valuable player in Europe's top-five leagues, according to CIES Football Observatory.

The 21-year-old midfielder, who was recently named the PFA Young Player of the Year, has so far played 56 times for club and country during a breakthrough 2020/21 campaign, scoring 18 times in total.

As a result of his impressive form under Pep Guardiola, where he helped his boyhood club to a Premier League title win, Foden is all set to play a key role in the upcoming European Championships for England.

In fact, the Stockport-born midfielder is ahead of some of the world's best when it comes to overall transfer value.

To determine transfer values, the CIES team analyses the following criteria: age, book value, competition level. results, achievements, performance, experience, international status, contract and position.

With these criteria, they predict an estimated value of each player based on the above attributes.

In their detailed report, Foden (£164.4 million) comes out on top ahead of Manchester United duo Mason Greenwood (£153 million) and Marcus Rashford (£137 million).

Bruno Fernandes (£132 million) is another Manchester United player who features in the list while Mason Mount (£106.1 million) of Chelsea being the only other Premier League player in the top 10 highest-priced players.

In terms of the other players included, Borussia Dortmund forward Erling Haaland comes in fourth (£134 million) while Frenkie de Jong (£119 million), Pedri (£114 million), Alphonso Davies (£113 million) and Joao Felix (£110 million) complete the list.

Outside of the top 10, another England international, Jadon Sancho, just misses out with a transfer value of £103.3 million, while Ferran Torres, Kai Havertz and Trent Alexander-Arnold also feature alongside the likes of Timo Werner, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus.
