Piers Morgan Claims 'Ruthless' Sir Alex Ferguson Would Have Been 'Cancelled' If He Was Still A Manager

Piers Morgan has made a bold claim that Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson would have been considered "too mean" and "too abusive" if he was still a manager nowadays.

Ferguson won an incredible 13 Premier League titles, two Champions League trophies and five FA Cups during a legendary 26 years at Old Trafford.

The 79-year-old Scot is considered as one of the best managers in football history alongside the likes of Rinus Michels, Johan Cruyff and Pep Guardiola.

However, Ferguson was well known for his infamous 'hairdryer treatment' of United legends like Cristiano Ronaldo, Ruud van Nistelrooy and David Beckham.

Morgan, 56, has now taken to Twitter and suggested the iconic former United boss would have been "cancelled in today's sporting world."

The former Good Morning Britain co-host added that "we've arrived in snowflake society" after claiming Ferguson would have been considered a "bully" by today's standards.

Morgan tweeted: "Sir Alex Ferguson, the greatest coach in sporting history, would be cancelled in today's sporting world -- for being too mean, too ruthless, too abusive, too insensitive, too much of a 'bully.'

"This is where we've arrived in snowflake society. Congrats everyone!"

Morgan has sparked backlash on Twitter by suggesting that Olympians shouldn't be celebrating a bronze medal win at Tokyo 2020 this summer.

The outspoken TV host tweeted to his 7.9m followers: "Real sporting champions don't celebrate coming 3rd."

Morgan, who left ITV's Good Morning Britain in March after standing by his comments on Meghan Markle, has also been criticised for his stance on Simone Biles.

Biles, 24, initially withdrew from a number of Olympic events at Tokyo 2020 to "focus on my mental health."

However, Morgan launched an extraordinary rant by insisting it was "ridiculous" that athletes who quit or lose are "deemed more courageous, inspiring [and] heroic" than those who "win or tough it out."

Biles has since made her emotional return to the 2020 Summer Olympics and captured a bronze medal in the beam final.
