They say class permanent and Franck Ribery proved that with a majestic Man of the Match performance as Fiorentina beat AC Milan 3-1 at the San Siro.

The Frenchman is 36 now but you wouldn't know it given the way he rolled back the years and ran the show last night. Ribery terrorised the Rossoneri throughout and scored a silky third in the comfortable victory.

His performance was so good that home supporters felt the need to applaud him off the pitch when he was substituted in the 89th minute.

It was the Frenchman's second goal for Fiorentina after joining on a free transfer in the summer. His manager Vincenzo Montella only took him off because he knew as special ovation awaited him.

"I took Ribery off because I expected they'd give him a standing ovation," Montella said, as per Goal.

"He is always in the game, always decisive, and has capabilities well beyond the norm, even if he doesn't have the change of pace he had five or six years ago."

Bayern allowed him to leave upon the expiration from the contract as they had other young wingers to fill the void but Ribery is showing that age is just a number.

"Yes, I am old, but I feel young on the pitch," Ribery told Sky Sport Italia.

"Football is my life, I love it. I was hungry when I came to Fiorentina and it excites me to see the team doing so well.

"I came to help Fiorentina, the players and the fans. I am happy, but I need to work every day, every week to play the way I did tonight."
