Italy manager Roberto Mancini personally believes that Germany "didn't deserve to be kicked out" of Euro 2020 after their sensational defeat to England.

Germany entered Euro 2020 this summer in Group F, AKA the 'Group of Death,' alongside 2018 World Cup champions France, Portugal and Hungary.

The Germans, who were managed by Joachim Low for the tournament, finished second in Group F as they punched their ticket to the knockout stages.

However, Germany's hopes of reaching the quarter-finals were dashed after a 2-0 defeat to England at Wembley in the last 16.

Low stepped down as Germany head coach after the Euros and was replaced by former Bayern Munich manager Hansi Flick.

England, meanwhile, swept aside Ukraine in the quarter-finals and beat Denmark in the semi-finals to face Italy in the final.

However, Mancini had the last laugh as Italy defeated England in a nail-biting penalty shootout at Wembley and secured the Euro 2020 title.

The Italy head coach has now rubbed salt in the wounds of Gareth Southgate's England by claiming that Germany shouldn't have been knocked out of the Euros.

When asked what Germany could learn from Italy, Mancini told Sport1: "I don't know what Germany can do. I still think it's a great football nation.

"They always had good teams and great players. The German coaches were also always excellent.

"But everyone has to go their own way. We were no different three years ago.

"Sure, Joachim Low and his troops were knocked out against England in the round of 16, but they didn't have the easiest group either.

"But honestly? In my opinion, the Germans didn't deserve to be kicked out. For me, they played a great game against the English."

Mancini's in-form Italy side impressed at Euro 2020 as they captured the trophy without suffering a single defeat.

The recently crowned Euro 2020 champions extended their unbeaten run to 34 matches after their win against England.

Mancini admitted that he was "absolutely happy" to see the Italians lift silverware at this summer's Euro.

The former Manchester City manager said: "I feel very, very good as a European champion.

"It really is a great feeling and I am absolutely happy. I am especially happy for all Italians at home and around the world."
