A special reception for RVP...

Robin van Persie only spent three seasons at Manchester United but he'll always be held in high regard by the Red Devils supporters - particularly because of his title-winning heroics in 2012/13.

The Dutchman returned to Old Trafford in 2016 with Fenerbahce for a Europa League and received an incredible ovation - with his former manager Sir Alex Ferguson even joining in with the applause after van Persie found the net late on in a 4-1 defeat

RVP didn't celebrate his goal, instead he clapped and waving to the fans out of respect. It wasn't the result he would have wanted for his employers at the time, but he will have been overjoyed with the reception he received.

These days, the 35-year old is back at his beloved Feyenoord for a second spell but this season will be his last as a professional footballer, as the man himself confirmed.

Van Persie, who scored 50 times in 102 games for Netherlands, is remembered best for his time in the Premier League with Arsenal and then United.

After winning his first Premier League Golden Boot, he then almost single-handedly guided United to their 20th league title, and their last under Sir Alex Ferguson, by finishing top scorer again with 26 goals in the Premier League.

516 appearances and 243 goals is his incredible career record at the time of writing, though van Persie will no doubt be hoping to add to that before he hangs up his boots for good.
