Robinho is set to sign for Turkish outfit Sivasspor mere months after being found guilty of being involved in a gang rape in 2013.

The 33-year old, who has been capped over 100 times for Brazil, was convicted and sentenced to nine years in prison by an Italian court for the alleged incident where five other men were involved.

The former Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan man maintains his innocence and is currently appealing his sentence.

And with his sentence suspended due to the ongoing appeal, he is therefore free to sign for another club.

Robinho features in our top 10 biggest transfer flops:

Robinho was recently released by Atletico Mineiro after the expiration of his contract but is on course to make a swift return to the game with Sivasspor, who are eighth in the Turkish top flight.

A statement on Sivasspor's official website read:

"The Brazilian striker Robinho, whom we have been seeing for a long time and who we have agreed to in principle, will be in Sivas tomorrow.

"After the final negotiations, he will sign a formal contract with us."

Robinho has arrived in Istanbul for those final talks, and was mobbed by fans upon his arrival:

The mind boggles as to how Robinho is able to move to Turkey even though he's been sentenced to prison but that's the reality of the situation - and he will be unveiled as a Sivasspor player very soon.
