Sadio Mane has been slammed for showing a "lack of respect" to Jurgen Klopp and branded "out of order" for his handshake snub.

Mane blanked Klopp and refused to shake his hand following Liverpool's 4-2 win at Manchester United on Thursday.

Graeme Souness, Roy Keane and Michael Owen pulled no punches in their assessment of the Senegalese forward's attitude towards his manager.

Owen said he showed a "lack of respect" and praised how Klopp dealt with the situation.

He said: "I thought Jurgen Klopp played it well in the interview, played it down, didn't want to take the shine off what was a great performance and a great win

"But and there is a big but, you can't do that to your manager, not in front of the glaring public.

"Yes, go knock on his door tomorrow [after the game], yes, if you're not happy then say something, but you don't do that. That's a lack of respect. It sends a bad image to the fans, to his teammates."

Souness added: "Disrespectful. If I was the manager; I wouldn't be happy.

"He should show a bit of respect. It's disrespectful to the manager and the club."

Keane also blasted Mane, calling out his behaviour: "The player is out of order.

"But when I was a player, I didn't want the manager coming on giving me high fives."

Klopp, though, played down Mane's handshake snub.

Asked if there was a problem, he replied: "No, no problem. Yesterday I made a late decision in training to decide for Diogo.

"The boys are used to me explaining things usually but there was actually no time for that and that's all. It's all fine."

Mane, who came off the bench having been replaced by Diogo Jota in the starting XI, will be hoping for a spot in Klopp's team on Sunday when they travel to West Brom.
