Manchester United might have found their answer to their long-term midfield problems.
RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara was signed from Red Bull Salzburg when incoming United interim manager Ralf Rangnick was in charge there.
He has played over 100 times for Leipzig since, and looks every bit the player they've been desperately missing for five years or more.

An all-action box-to-box midfielder, he has a cultured right foot which he uses to both dispossess opponents and to play forward, allowing for counterattacks.
With Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Jadon Sancho in their ranks, United could certainly do with a player to launch counters.
23-year-old Haidara is a Mali international and has appeared 24 times for the national team, scoring twice.

His first UEFA Champions League goal actually came against United in Leipzig's 3-2 win over the Red Devils back in the group stages last year.
His slide-tackling ability is sumptuous to watch, and - on that metric at least - would make him more dependable at winning the ball back than the club's current midfield enforcing duo Fred and Scott McTominay.
His weight of pass is also impressive, and despite being a central midfielder or sometimes even a defensive midfielder, he does have an eye for goal from range.

He is believed to have a £33m release clause on his current contract which United could certainly afford.
They are also still tracking West Ham United's Declan Rice in that position - though the Euro 2020 finalist could likely cost double that, if not more.
The best news of all for Manchester United fans is that Haidara has previously admitted that a transfer to the club one day would be the dream move for him.
He told FootMali.com in 2019 that "My dream club is Manchester United. I will fight with all my strength to one day play for that club."

If the 23-year-old keeps performing the way he is, it might be United doing all the fighting. On the face of it, he certainly looks as though he'd be a shrewd investment.
