South Korean Players Have Been Switching Shirts To Confuse Sweden Team

A bit of a crazy story...

After reports of Sweden spying on South Korea and trying to find out their tactics ahead of their Group F clash at 1pm tomorrow, South Korea manager Shin Tae-yong has revealed the bizarre approach they've taken in an attempt to confuse their opponents.

He says that they've been switching shirts and numbers during training sessions and matches, claiming they are doing it because he believes Europeans don't know the difference between people of asian ethnicity.

"In my opinion, I think when the Europeans look at us Asians, I think it could be one of the reasons," he told a news conference, as per Goal.

"I think we wanted to confuse the Swedish team. That's why we did that.

"We swapped them around because we didn't want to show our opponents anything. Ki Sung-yueng is probably known, as is Son Heung-min, but for the other players it might be a little bit confusing.

"It's very difficult for Westerners to distinguish between Asians and that's why we did that."

It's an interesting method to say the least, with Shin's comments coming after a member of the Swedish coaching staff ended up getting access to a Korean training session before being told to leave,

Sweden boss Janne Andersson gave an explanation for how it came about, and apologised to his side's first opponents in Russia.

"He heard about a practice session," he said, via The Guardian.

"He didn't understand it was a closed session. He was asked to leave and he watched from more of a distance as a result. If it has been perceived in another way, we apologise."
