An Emotional Raul Jimenez Scores First Goal Since Fracturing Skull, You Can See How Much It Meant

Wolves forward Raul Jimenez scored in a pre-season clash against Stoke City on Saturday afternoon - his first since fracturing his skull.

In November last year, the 30-year-old left many fearing the worst when he suffered a sickening head injury after colliding with David Luiz in a clash against Arsenal.

Jimenez, who will now have to wear protective headgear for the remainder of his career, was forced to undergo emergency surgery in order to stop the internal bleeding.

In the coming days and weeks, the Mexico international battled to come back stronger than ever and after three tough months, he returned to first-team training with Wolves.

To give you further context into how serious the sickening clash with Luiz was, Jimenez opened up about the recovery process in an interview with EstiloDF earlier this year.

"It was very complicated and I don't remember what exactly happened. It is all a blur," he said.

"All I remember is waking up in the hospital after the surgery was done. Then it was very complicated to go back home and not be able to do anything.

"Every little move I made had to be very slow, but my girlfriend has helped me so much throughout my recovery.

"I think it was the most difficult thing for her because the game was in London, we are two hours away, she watched from home. I don't even remember the moment, I just remember waking up in the hospital after the operation.

"But it's hard coming home and not being able to do many things, walking slowly, it's difficult, but she was always here to support me, I had to have my breakfast in bed."

Jimenez has since returned to the first-team fold this summer and in a pre-season clash against Championship side Stoke on Saturday, he scored his first goal after months on the sidelines.

It was clearly an emotional moment for the experienced forward. After scoring a tap-in, he pointed to the sky and proceeded to celebrate with his teammates, who were delighted to see him back on the scoresheet.

Wolves' official Twitter account posted Jimenez's finish shortly after he found the net at the Britannia.

It's great to see Jimenez back in the goals again. Let's hope he can push on for Wolves this season.
