Stoke City won't be relishing playing Manchester City again any time soon, after leaving the Etihad Stadium on the receiving end of a 7-2 mauling, on Saturday afternoon, and the stats that continue to come out of the match make for even grimmer reading for Potters fans.
At one point, it did look as if Mark Hughes' side could complete one of the most unlikely comebacks in Premier League history when they pulled two goals back to reduce a 3-0 deficit. However, Pep Guardiola's men promptly scored another four and sent Stoke back to the Britannia Stadium wondering what on earth had just happened.

The likes of Kevin de Bruyne and Gabriel Jesus stole a lot of the headlines from Saturday's match, as did Fernandinho, for his 30-yard screamer, which made the score 5-2 on the hour mark. However, it was substitute Yaya Toure that came away with perhaps the most eye catching statistic from the drubbing.

The Ivorian midfielder completed 61 passes during his time on the pitch, which was three times more than any Stoke player completed. Yet Toure was only on the pitch for 18 minutes.
To make matters worse for Hughes' beleaguered team, even City's goalkeeper Ederson completed more passes than any Potters player, with the former Benfica man playing 19 successul passes during the game.

The victory takes City two points clear of Manchester rivals United at the top of the Premier League, with a goal difference of +25 compared to United's +19. Given the form of Guardiola's side at the moment, you could be forgiven for thinking they'll end up running away with the league at this rate, especially with Sergio Aguero's injury, sustained in a car crash in Amsterdam recently, not believed to be as serious as initially feared.
