Trent Alexander-Arnold reminded everyone what a special player he is with an outstanding performance for Liverpool against Manchester United.

After dropping him from his last England squad, Gareth Southgate was in attendance to see Alexander-Arnold absolutely run the show as Liverpool won 4-2 at Old Trafford.

The 22-year-old was the best player on the pitch by some distance and was given the Man of the Match award from Jamie Carragher.

Alexander-Arnold was also hailed by Gary Neville for his display, having controlled the game from right-back and produced a series of wonderful moments on the ball.

His finest was right at the end of the first half when he delivered the most outrageous set-piece delivery for Roberto Firmino to score the first of two goals in the huge win in the push to secure Champions League qualification.

The shape on the cross to earn Alexander-Arnold his sixth Premier League assist of the season was simply sensational and left Paul Pogba scrambling at the far post.

He continued to be Liverpool's main creative source, creating five chances and having a hand in the third goal when his driven effort was parried by Dean Henderson and into the path of Firmino for the Brazilian's second.

Alexander-Arnold received rave reviews on social media for a sublime outing:

England are well-stocked on the right side of defence this summer but with the increased 26-man squad, surely Alexander-Arnold will make the grade for the European Championships.

He's responded extremely well to his England omission and is showing that he remains the country's best right-back.
