Ashley Cole picked up one of the most ridiculous red cards of the MLS season in LA Galaxy's 1-1 draw with Sporting KC last night.
The English full-back has played seven games for the MLS side since moving from Roma in January this year. He joined Nigel de Jong as Galaxy's high-profile off-season signings and it's the Dutchman who would have been expected to pick up the first red card between the pair.
But de Jong was nowhere to be seen last night as Cole got his marching orders in the match.

With the score already level at 1-1 in the 68th minute, the former Chelsea defender was taking a throw-in when referee Chris Penso decided to book him for time-wasting. Fast forward 32 seconds and Penso was reaching into his pocket for the second yellow and subsequent red after Cole went in studs up on Sporting's Benny Feilhaber:
