Worst VAR Decision Of All-Time Sees Clear Marko Arnautovic Goal Chalked Off

A truly awful call over in the Chinese Super League...

The worst VAR decision of all-time has just happened in the Chinese Super League game between Shanghai SIPG and Shijiazhuang Ever Bright.

In the 28th minute of the game, former West Ham and Stoke City striker Marko Arnautovic scored a very tidy volley at the far post - or so he thought - because somehow the goal was ruled out by VAR in a truly abysmal call.

The Austrian could not have been more onside if he tried as he ran in to get on the end of the cross - and yet bizarrely his perfectly legitimate strike was disallowed.

Newly promoted Shijiazhuang went 1-0 five minutes into the second half when Zang Yifeng opened the scoring for the visitors but former Porto and Zenit star Hulk was on the scoresheet to level matters twenty minutes from time.

But of course it should have really been a 2-1 win for Shanghai. The mind really does baffle as to what the officials have seen because Arnautovic was about a mile onside and you don't even require multiple replays to see that.

VAR has thrown up its fair share of controversy since it was implemented in football but you'll struggle to find a worse decision than what happened in China today.
