Man City Boss Pep Guardiola Can't Train Players With Personality, Claims Man United Legend Patrice Evra

Man City Boss Pep Guardiola Can't Train Players With Personality, Claims Man United Legend Patrice Evra

Evra has launched an astonishing attack on Guardiola and insists players only join City for money.

Pep Guardiola doesn't want leaders in his Manchester City team and is unable to train players with personality, according to Manchester United legend Patrice Evra.

Evra's comments come in the wake of City's dramatic Champions League semi-final capitulation against Real Madrid, in which they conceded three goals in 11 minutes at the Bernabeu to lose 6-5 on aggregate.

Guardiola's side bounced back from that defeat with an emphatic 5-0 win over Newcastle on Sunday and are now in a strong position to win their fourth Premier League title in five seasons, with City now three points clear of Liverpool with three games left in the season.

But despite the manner of that victory, Evra remains unimpressed with Guardiola's style of management.

"Manchester City needs leaders, but Guardiola doesn't want leaders," Evra told Prime Video, via Marca.

"He doesn't want personality. He's the leader. That's why when they're in trouble they don't want to.

"They don't have anyone on the pitch to help them."

Evra added: "He chooses his teams like that, he can't train people with personality. He did it at Barcelona, but he builds his team to control everyone.

"When things go wrong, he always decides."

City are expected to mount a strong challenge for the Champions League again next season when they will be bolstered by the signing of Erling Haaland, who is close to completing a £63m move from Borussia Dortmund.

Haaland, 21, is expected to sign a five-year contract with City and will earn a basic salary of £400,000 a week not including bonuses, according to The Mirror.

Evra is unimpressed by City's lavish spending and believes players only move to the Etihad for the money.

"City have made a mistake, it's the truth. They are traumatised," Evra said.

"They remind me of PSG: they are clubs based on money.

"Real Madrid also has money, but it has a story behind it; Manchester City only has money and the players go to play there solely for that.

"Then they win trophies, of course, but a player chooses to go to Manchester City only because it offers you more."
